Urgent Donation - Fire@MSU

Assalamualaikum dear friends

I hope this email finds you all in good health and happiness.

I know this is a trying time for many of us due to deadlines, assignments, presentations, final examinations etc. However, as many of you might have known, the times are more trying for one particular Malaysian family over here in Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan.

The family of Azril Haris & Norbismi Nordin (a lecturer from Universiti Putra Malaysia, who is doing her PhD in Food Science and Packaging), has suffered great mishap as the apartment they resided in caught fire and destroyed almost all of their belongings. The fire ravaged the whole block of the apartment destroying 41 apartment units (including theirs), stripping them of everything except the clothes on their backs and some important documents they managed to salvage later from the rubbles. Through the mercy of Allah, fortunately the family of Azril Haris and Norbismi Nordin, along with their 9-year old and 3-year old daughters, were left unscathed except for some minor difficulty in breathing due to excessive inhalation of smoke. They are now doing well (health-wise) and are under the care of one of the Malaysian families here and the Malaysian Student Organization in East Lansing. The MSD officers in Chicago has also been notified and they have came here to lend support to the family. The Malaysian students here have also been (and still are) collecting donations, and are helping them with clothings, food and shelter. However, since the loss was too much, we need more help for this family.

It is our hope that you can extend the news of this terrible tragedy to the Malaysian community in your universities/regions/workplaces, and collect some financial aid to the family of Norbismi and Azril.
